"Abundance" is a tribute to the enduring wisdom of the Eastern Shoshone people and our deep connection to the land they call home. The painting captures a summer scene in this historic wintering ground, a homeland chosen by my ancestor’s and signed into treaty by Chief Washakie for its life-sustaining resources and protective climate.
The composition reflects this harmony: the snow-capped peaks of the Wind River Mountains provide the vital waters that feed the valley below, where a meadow teems with summer's vibrant growth. In the foreground, a circle of painted tipis stands not as a transient camp, but as a symbol of our permanent home and community, that endures today. This scene embodies the true meaning of abundance—the generous provision of the earth, which allowed a people to not just survive, but to thrive and build a lasting future in our chosen homelands.
